The Faculty of the School of Counseling and Counseling Psychology (SCCP) in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts (CISA) at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for four (4) clinical assistant professor positions. These successful candidates will be able to teach undergraduate and graduate counseling courses. These positions who will be primarily focused on the Master of Counseling program. The positions are 80% teaching and 20% service. These positions are located at the Polytechnic campus with teaching at various other campus locations (Downtown Phoenix, Tempe, and Online).
These are full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure-eligible positions renewable on an academic year basis contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the university. Candidates must reside in Arizona or be willing to relocate.
The School of Counseling and Counseling Psychology (SCCP) is home to an APA-accredited doctoral program in counseling psychology, an MPCAC-accredited master’s program (on-campus) in clinical mental health counseling approved by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners, and undergraduate majors in psychology (PSY) and counseling and applied psychological science (CAP). The CAP Bachelor of Science is one of the first in the nation at a large, public research institution. Our undergraduate programs are located at the Polytechnic campus and via ASU Online and we offer courses across the three campuses – Poly, Tempe and Downtown. Currently, we have over 1,300 undergraduates declaring CAP as their major and we expect CAP to keep expanding with the introduction of new concentrations (e.g., Sexuality and Gender Issues in Counseling, Sport and Performance Counseling) Counseling Military Members and Veterans) and the recent introduction of CAP courses on the Tempe and Downtown campuses. We recently developed a specialization track in school counseling and are approved to develop a Spanish certificate program for mental health professionals. We recently launched the online master’s program in mental health counseling and admitted our inaugural cohort in Fall of 2024. In Summer 2025, our Master of Counseling Immersion program became the first MPCAC-accredited program in Arizona. SCCP offers a collegial faculty that emphasizes outstanding scholarship, teaching, clinical supervision, and professional service in the spirit of enhancing society.

Essential Functions:
- Participate in internal and external committees and associations.
- Deliver excellent in-class instruction at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral level.
- Deliver excellent instruction through both an online and in-person modality.
- Mentor counseling students.
Required Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Counseling Psychology, Counselor Education, or related field at the time of appointment.
- Demonstrated teaching effectiveness with undergraduate psychology and/or graduate students.
- License-eligible as a Licensed Psychologist or Licensed Professional Counselor in Arizona or eligible to be certified as a School Counselor.
- Ability to teach in digital environments such as Canvas (asynchronously and/or synchronously).
- Ability to develop, maintain, and teach online course content.
Desired Qualifications:
- Teaching experience in a post-secondary environment.
- Evidence of effective teaching.
- Demonstrated ability to develop new programs, build community partnerships, and contribute to curriculum growth. Please specify any experience with online learning, school counseling, and/or sport performance counseling.
- Active involvement in professional organizations.
- Clinical supervision experience.
- Experience developing community partnerships to enhance training experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to values expressed by the ASU Charter.
